This is the third song from the upcoming “Five Ghosts” album that has been released to the public and it’s classic Stars — ethereal, magical, and a bit heavy with beauty. They passed through Boston...

"The Moral Life of Babies"
Studies on babies prove difficult to conduct - a lot depends on the willingness of the baby to comply, and actually luck and good timing might be a better word than willingness.
But there have been a number of recent studies at Yale University that study babies’ perceived perceptions of right and wrong based on the motion of their eyes and reactions to certain circumstances.
The NY Times...

"Archie Comics Welcomes a Gay to Riverdale" →
I was an Archie Comics fanatic, to the extent that I once sent one of those doofy pictures of myself surrounded by hundreds of comic books in for the “Collectors” section.
So in September, they’re introducing a full-color cartoon homosexual, Kevin Keller, to the lineup of Archie and the gang!
Kevin: [Veronica’s] not so bad… I’m just not interested in dating...

Grow Beard, Gain Trust
A recent study in the Journal of Marketing Communications compared peoples’ responses to advertisements that featured clean-shaven men and bearded men. The results: men with “neat, medium-length beards” were found to be more trustworthy and have greater expertise than men without beards.
As GOOD pointed out, this may have implications for those recent college grads in search of...

UFOs Should Be Taught in Universities →
So says anthropology Professor Philip Haseley from The Niagara County Community College in New York, according to this article from Telegraph.co.uk.
Considering the 50 UFO sightings per month over every region, and the scientific approach of groups that investigated the sightings, Haseley says the subject of UFOs should be “a part of the mainstream as a serious area of study.”

Mercury Retrograde 2010 (for astrology kooks like...
WHAT. The planet Mercury slows down and appears to move in reverse.
WHEN. Starting today, April 17th, through May 11th. Mercury was in retrograde at the turn of the new year, but this is its first turn into retrograde in 2010.
WHO. Followers of astrology believe this affects everyone on earth. Mercury represents communication, and allegedly when a planet moves in retrograde, what it represents...

Reality Imitates Tracy Jordan?
Kentucky Fried Chicken recently announced its new “Double Down Sandwich,” the product “so meaty,” there’s no room for a bun!
Sounds suspiciously like KFC was inspired by 30 Rock’s Tracy Jordan…

Sarah Palin @ the Boston Commons on Wednesday
l’m not a huge fan of politics, but I am planning on checking out Sarah Palin’s rally at the Boston Commons tomorrow (Wednesday, 10 am - 1 pm). I’m not a fan of Gawker, either, but they do have a fairly funny “Tea Party Dictionary” up. Some of my favorites:
Communism: Is used to define any plan or program, usually put in place by the government, that has any...

One Man's Black Hole is Another Man's Universe
“According to the new equations, the matter black holes absorb and seemingly destroy is actually expelled and becomes the building blocks for galaxies, stars, and planets in another reality.”
So reports an article from National Geographic … and if this is true, it may explain the mystery of the Big Bang.

Take the Myers-Briggs Personality Test! →
According to this simplified version of the Myers-Briggs personality test, I am an ENFP type (Extroverted Intuitive Feeling Perceiving). According to the career-indicator results, I should be a songwriter, bartender, comic book author, or massage therapist, but should steer clear of careers related to data analytics, the government, investment banking, or networking engineering. Thank goodness,...

Hillsboro, Oregon man John McAllister just broke the 27-year-old world record for the old school arcade game, Asteroids. As of Monday evening (according to the Portland Mercury) he had nearly four days of continuous game play, and was still playing.

We ALL Live in Public
“We Live in Public” is one of the most disturbing documentaries I have ever seen - and considering the strange nature of reality, that is saying a lot!
“We Live in Public” focuses on entrepreneur (and self-proclaimed artist) Josh Harris, a dot-com millionaire who founded one of the first interactive video websites when the internet was starting to take off. Following the...

In response to my anti-Google mini exposé, a friend sent me this article from The Onion:

Google is The Man. In a bad way.
You’ve likely heard of Google Buzz, which was added to all Gmail accounts last week without any user approval needed. I used to love Google - personally, I have my iGoogle page set up with my e-mail, local weather, horoscope, and other both useful and frivolous applications.
Bad news, though, Google is definitely “the man.” Please consider the following:
* Google requires...

Higher Education Rising Out of Reach
An Op-Ed piece.
According to FinAid, College tuition rates increase at about twice the rate of general inflation, a shocking discrepancy that affects more than a few high school students. This alarming trend is increasing the difficulty of paying for school, pushing many potential students’ goal of attending college out of reach. In addition, unlike previous eras, a college degree is now...
